Paul Thompson, who won the Maples Collegiate O.V. Jewitt Scholarship, is currently attending the University of Winnipeg.
He’s taking the Integrated Education/Kinesiology program and working toward becoming a Phys. Ed. teacher.
Paul only found out about winning his scholarship during his graduation ceremony.
“I actually didn’t hear about the O.V. Jewitt scholarship until I was shaking my Vice-Prinicipal’s hand and she said, ‘Congrats on the O.V. Jewitt scholarship,’” he recalls.
“As a student with limited hours for paid employment, it’s helpful to have other sources of money to use towards books and other things,” says Paul. “But it was also nice to be acknowledged for my participation at school and for the community volunteer work that I do.”
